After investigating the deceased at the gate, we traveled around the wall cleaning things out. We were hoping to winnow the skeletons down, but they appeared to approach in greater and greater numbers. After battling two further sets of skeletons, a new foe appeared.
I think they're called zombies. They were slow and cadaverous, but proved difficult to kill. A blow that would surely fell a mortal man seemed not to phase them. Eventually we discovered, however, that the radiant glory of the moon would slay them with great efficiency.
After circumnavigating the wall, we descended into the courtyard. The mists seem to grow angry, and as we investigated an abandoned stable, several creatures emerged from the gloom to threaten us. Daery's broke off to distract a squad of skeletons as the rest of us engaged multiple zombies. One of which, formerly a massive ogre, was easily one of the largest foes we've ever fought. We were able to hold our line until they were finished off.
Just before we were attacked, we discovered a vile 'creature' that was identified as green slime. Where we encountered it we've burned it out. Quick experimentation showed that it would be deleterious for us to have it encounter our skin or possessions.
