We attempted to cross the courtyard, but were beset upon by zombies and skeletons in the open. Lacking cover, we were forced to battle them without a real plan. The zombies were fortunately stupid and walked through our spike growth, severely weakening them. The others made quick work of the zombies and skeletons, but it was clear this was a battle of attrition and numbers were not on our side.
Deciding discretion is the better part of valor, we used magic to hide ourselves in the mists. Using this as cover, we evaded several patrols and investigated the whole of the courtyard. We expect that when the curse is lifted on the island the denizens in the fog will dissipate. At that time, we'll investigate more closely.
Logru made an aborted attempt to scale the central keep, but the parapets were manned, and he was forced to return. An initial scouting of the main keep revealed a rather large skeletal patrol on duty. With the sun beginning to sink on the horizon, we withdrew to the docks to rest.
The night passed without incident. The only thing of note was a strange glowing object in the channel… perhaps a ship. It passed without us being able to investigate further. Fully rested, we got up just after midnight and pushed into the keep proper.
The skeletal patrol challenged us, but did not immediately attack. Daery's attempted to get through the room without provoking a fight. However, all our attempts to answer their challenge, including Logru's remembering of the words we found on the dead elf at the gates, were for naught. In hindsight, I wonder if using the dead elf's amulet would have worked better… oh well. As we were out-numbered pretty severely, I called forth spirit wolves to even the odds. Three of them were dispatched, but in the end we were victorious. Hopefully we didn't set the entire keep against us…
