We finished scoping out the castle after the high priest proceeded to his eternal reward. Much treasure was found, with a few magical items in the mix. I'm not quite sure what I'll do with my share, I'm thinking of talking to the forest warden for advice.
Our departure was interrupted by 4 longboats of orcs, hobgoblins (I think) and ogres! Luckily some of the dead were wrapping up their eternal patrol and responded to their ancient enemy in kind. We formed up in the center with 2 wings of deadites to our flanks. We tactically withdrew back to the keep entrance to avoid being flanked and to keep a solid line.
Our strategy worked and we were able to wear down our foes before us as the deadites gave as well as they took. The enemy's final push was a pair of ogres that charged in nearly without support. Perhaps were they wiser they'd have retreated, but… ogres. They ended up being felled as well.
This is most disconcerting as somebody must have known where we were. Surely the humanoids don't loiter in boats off the shoals waiting for keeps to be liberated… something tipped them off. I fear the council may have a traitor.
