After the demon fell, we found some sort of evil pebble where he was standing. There was a darkness to it that burned Thilius' hand when he attempted to pick it up. We magicked it back to the cave to have our monk friend analyze it for us. He was unhelpful. I sprinkled some holy water on it. This caused a minor explosion, but seemed to cure the pebble of the darkness.
We then returned to Phlan to report. We gave a brief rundown, picked up a commission to investigate the recent silence of the sea-elves, and paid a visit to Ohlo. Ohlo seems to think the pebble contains pure arcane power, capable of reinvigorating tired minds. Could be useful.
Then we headed off to visit the Sea Elves. They were wary, and wanted to know why we were there. It turned out their recent silence stemmed from recent animosity generated by the mer-folk on the other side of the reef. We went to talk to the mer-folk and were captured. Their chieftain seemed a bit… off. Initially I blamed the beautiful siren beside him, but it seems something more is afoot. His son was recently disappeared. The siren released us from our bondage, bidding that we go find the chieftain's son.
After a quick investigation of some local entrails, we determined that north was the direction we should travel. We ran across the sounds of fightings: sea-elves being waylaid by aquatic trolls! We hurried to assist. Najila banished one of the beasts whilst we got a handle on the other. Cade had some trickery up his sleeve that kept the infernal creatures from regenerating, and we made quick work of it. Najila recalled the other troll, where upon we ganged up on it with aplomb and dispatched its carcass to the deep.
The trolls carried a rock with a ransom demand, of sorts. The sea elves we rescued told us of a troll cave about 8 miles away. We set our sights on that and shipped out.
