[ Session 04 ] [ Back ] [ Session 06 ]
We had a short rest in the kobold castle and then executed our plan to make it back to town with our haul while avoiding any monstrous encounters.
Fortunately, we made it just fine. We'd turned in our kobold bounties, traded up our money, and bought a few extra provisions. We also acquired a few more healing potions because they'd come in so useful the last few forages.
After a short discussion, we decided to hit up the goblin fortress.
We approached it and found it to be extremely well fortified. We decided to try a plan to lure them out. Logru was the bait. And they almost bought it, until someone from inside yelled at the door guards and they came back inside reluctantly.
We watched. A bit later, some dudes left and headed across the street. We discussed how to proceed, but took too long and the dudes that left returned with some more powerful looking dudes.
In a split decision, we decided to take out this group.
Unfortunately, we didn't realize it, but we were a bit in over our heads.
Two wargs, two bugbears, six ninja goblins, and six regular goblins.
We were overwhelmed quickly. In a split second decision, I released the earth elemental. The earth elemental was enough of a threat that he was able to draw much of the fire to him, yet he was very difficult to hurt. With the pressure off, we were able to recover mid fight and win.
But taking a look at the elemental, even though we were severely drained from the fight, we decided we had to press forward or we'd lose the assistance of the elemental. It would be a huge waste and at the same time a huge risk. Forward.
