[ Session 38 ] [ Back ] [ Session 40 ]
We headed deeper into the area and cleared out another large patrol of orcs/half-orcs. It took an absurd amount of time, and way too many resources. And, this time, an alarm was successfully sent out.
Ahead we forged, but we could find no other patrols now. And, when we arrived at the temple portion of the plaza, we could tell the enemy had retreated into defensive positions. Mostly pulled back into the temple, and perhaps some in four of the out-buildings surrounding the temple.
The druid performed a Divination spell that indicated that these four outbuildings may have subterranian access to the temple. Other than that, the obvious other way into the temple was the massive front door.
We skirted around the exteriors of the outbuildings, to get a good feel for the layout. The druid headed into one of the outbuildings disgused as a gnat, but found it empty. Only the main door seemed as if it could provide the access we needed.
The three guys that stood guard outside didn't look like much. We figured that was on purpose. I was talked into hitting the main guy with a Scorching Ray, but he was as he appeared, just a feeble old man. Who started complaining at the others in my party, who tried talking to him after the fact. Not surprising, really.
Well, what exactly were we going to do about this predicament, then?
