When we all woke up the next morning it became clear the tests had already begun. Savn wondered off early, which was worrisome. Atronis came by to fetch Turret not long after.
At length I realized that the red Twi'lek chick who was to be my mentor had appeared and was sitting outside of my borrowed tent in the rain. I headed out to sit with Yara Tash. We had a long discussion about the nature of belonging, and belonging with the Revanites specifically.
She left me with a question that I should answer: What would cause me to leave the Revanites?
Well, I knew that in a universe of infinite possibilities, that there could be any number of reasonable reasons to leave the Revanites. In a way, that is. As a group, sure. But as a philosophy? The philosophy could easily remain with me for always, even if I were forced to part ways with this group. So the bigger question in my mind is: are the Revanites more a philosophy than a group with certain interests and objectives beyond just the bettering of each individual? So far as advertized, it would seem like they are more a central philosophy than a group with specific interests. In this case, I would be with them as long as I believed in the philosophy. And as for believing in the philosophy, it would seem like the philosophy of the Revanites is one I have always believed in, and have no reason to change those beliefs. Death only would part me from it, as it would part me from the rest of my believes and self in general.
I thought about these things as the boys and I made the long trek to the caves where a gigantic lizard lay dormant. A lizard we as a group were so tasked to slay and return evidence of, to pass the physicality test.
We reached the cave and entered with care and quietude. We came to a widening with four of the lizards snoozing in various places, including the ceiling and the wall.
Sad to say, Savn was the most effective person here. I was having an off day. Turret couldn't seem to finish anything he started. Savn sealed the deal with all four, even if he didn't necessarily do the bulk of damage to all of them. Turret seemed steamed about this. Ah well.
We descended deeper into the caves and it became hotter and hotter. And it was still very humid. Ugh.
When it was so hot I about couldn't stand it any more, we came to a section of cave and saw the biggest lizard ever. Attached to the ceiling. The lizard seemed disinclined to move. That is, he seemed to be asleep. We took stock of our surroundings, what we had to work with here. Turret and I were not able to do so very much damage against the normal-sized versions of these lizards, and it would be extremely dangerous for Savn to have to close with this massive beast. Even if there was only one, he looked extremely hardy, and it would surely take more than a few blows from Savn's weapon to take him down. Even with Turret and I concentrating fire on him.
We decided that we had not been given any kind of time limit, and that it would probably behoove us to go retrieve some gear more conducive to fighting and slaying this beast than we happened to have on hand. We pinged ideas back and forth as we retreated from the cave, on our way back to camp, and then eventually to Kaas City.
