A previously thriving interstellar community with significant emphasis on artisans and small businesses, the Republic has had to make a large number of difficult changes to the overall quality of life for its citizens recently. The war has re-industrialized significant portions of the Republic, creating as much chaos from the economic shifts as the actual Imperial invasion did through violence. Many of the wealthier citizens have either gone into hiding, intending upon “waiting out the siege,” thereby removing large stores of wealth from active circulation.

The Republic is an extremely cosmopolitan collective, and its economic resilience has proven to be a function of that even despite the challenges they are facing. Some analysts suggest that the resilience has ironically increased due to the invasion, as more citizens are stepping up to contribute than are retreating from the adversity.
