Backstory

[ Back ] [ Next ]

Lucy was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX in a largely hispanic, somewhat run-down neighborhood. She had no siblings and her mother has remained a single mom for as long as she can remember. From a young age Lucy has dealt with gang violence, and ended up (as most kids in the area did) running with one gang or another until her mother finally was able to secure a new better-paying job, in the Atlanta area, and forced Lucy to move away from such things.

As a child, she and her mother attended Catholic church devotedly, and it was soon discovered that Lucy had the gift of song. From a very young age, Lucy would sing in the church choir every weekend, and as she got older, she became so popular that eventually the Archbishop of Atlanta attended a performance. This performance set events in motion that landed a 13 year old Lucy on the steps of the Vatican performing for a crowd of thousands and the pope himself. Lucy, for her part, was just excited to be able to travel overseas; her mother, however, was shocked and (unbeknownst to Lucy, given what she knew about Lucy's heritage) extremely concerned by the Holy See's interest in her daughter. But, in the end, it turned out to be nothing more than the Catholic church recognizing the talent of a devotee while gaining some (political) brownie points from the state of Mexico. Since Lucy thrives in the spotlight, her performance went splendidly and she received a standing ovation. In particular, several of the bishops in attendance commented afterward that she had exquisite pronunciation of the Latin phrases in the songs she tackled. Lucy simply beamed with pride.

Between her gang-running and the singing, Lucy really learned how easy it was to manipulate and charm people into doing the things she wanted them to do. And of course, in her adult life she took this to its natural end. After graduating high school, she went to work for the Mexican Consulate in Atlanta, and moved up in rank quickly to eventually become the press secretary (her handle of language and ability to wrangle the press into submission made her invaluable in this position). She is arguably the sole reason that Mexico remained out of the American public's eye for so many years given all the bad things that happen there that would turn even a cop white with shock. Traveling back and forth to Mexico a lot while working for the Consulate, she established ties with a drug cartel there, and began working on the side as their contact in America for negotiation purposes; for distribution deals, for routes, for “equipment”, you name it. As can be imagined, this was quite a lucrative “side” job, which was the whole point, after all.

While this was going on, the Mexican Consul himself expressed an interest in her, and she thought it would be amusing to humor him, and so she did. It certainly wouldn't be the first nor last time she would use someone in this way. With the affair came a nice big fat raise with lots of cash (tax-less) bonuses. Eventually, though, the Consul's wife discovered his affair with his press secretary. The events that unfolded due to this, if known to the public, would have no doubt ended up inspiring a new episode of Law and Order, but it was during this mess that Lucy received her visitation from her father, Tezcatlipoca, and everything magically straightened itself out. He told her that she had great talent that was liable to get her into deep, deep trouble, but had no way of keeping herself safe with such twiggy arms, So, he gave her several relics that she could use to protect herself in the event things spiraled out of control again like they had with the Mexican Consul.

Currently, Lucy lives in a house in a quiet suburb north of Atlanta, sitting on all these extra funds which she had funneled into the market and foreign bank accounts in order to keep prying eyes off of them. Primarily, though, she works devotedly to further her father, Tezcatlipoca's, goals in the world, and performs tasks for him as he requests them. As such, she has more-or-less retired from working for the cartel (with all due respect afforded by them), although they still request a favors on occasion. Instead, she spends her free time taking jobs as a B-list actress (she's had one-shot appearances on several crime procedurals), and occasionally does singing gigs. She trains regularly with her Elite Jaguar Warrior squad, learning to use the spear her father gave her, as well as hitting up the firing range on occasion with her Glock.

Her mother moved back to Texas (San Antonio) following Lucy's visitation, since she knew that Lucy would safeguard and be able to take care of herself from that point on. Lucy keeps in touch with her mom, and visits her twice a year, Easter and Christmas. Occasionally her mother comes to visit her in Atlanta, too.
