Master Control Rod

An attunable artifact that came from Denlorn's tower, is a magical item with many special properties.

Physical

  • 2' long, 1“ thick rod of Adamantine
  • 10 lbs
  • Can be used a mace
  • One end has a scepter, shaped like a flattened octagon
  • Has a circular quartz-like-crystal set into the scepter, like a flashlight
  • Clear like a diamond, but murky grey, 1” in diameter
  • Six gemstones set into the sides of the hexagon-head
    • 3 are perfectly clear crystals
    • 1 is deep onyx color
    • 1 is a sky blue
    • 1 is an orange color
  • Opposite end has a button
  • Whole thing is dark grey
  • Shaft is complex interlocking runic pattern
  • Ohlo has never actually seen it until today
  • It is a part of the magical defenses that protect the tower, but he doesn't know what specifically
  • Runes are in draconic, but nonsense

Magical Properties

Unattuned Properties:

  • Unattuned: Enchanted +1 Mace (1d6+1 bludgeoning)
  • Unattuned: Magical Implement (Arcane Focus)
  • Unattuned: Weighs 10 lbs
  • Unattuned: Immovable Rod
    • Button on bottom when pressed becomes an immovable rod. When pressed again, returns to normal.
    • Can hold up to 8000 lbs in this state
    • DC 30 to move it
  • Unattuned: Entirely immutable; can't be changed in size or shape



Attuned Properties:

  • Attuned: Weightless
  • Attuned: Stores up to 6 wands
  • Attuned: In 1 Standard Action, you can use up to all charges for a given absorbed wand to cast that spell as a spell of (spell's default level) + (charges spent -1) level (ex: 6 charges of magic missile is 9d4+9)
  • Attuned: Currently storing 4 Wands:
  • Attuned: Absorbing 1 wand takes a short rest
    • Wand of Fear, 7 charges, regained d6+1 every day at dawn. 1 charge: to command a person to fear or grovel, 2 charges: cone of fear
    • Wand of Magic Missiles, 7 charges, regain 1d6+1 at dawn
    • Wand of Magic Detection, 3 charges, expend 1 charge to cast detect magic spell, regain 1d3 daily
    • Wand of Enemy Detection, 7 charges, 1 action (cast)/1 minute (dur), Detect nearest enemy to you w/in 60' even if disguised (even w/magic)
  • Attuned: For every 2 full wand powers it absorbs, it gives the wielder +1 to hit for spells and ignore half cover when making spell attacks



Other Properties:

  • Rod is inert, but can be armed and unarmed by signet ring of Denlorn's school
    • Ohlo has one, and has armed it for us
    • Notes on the Signet Ring:
      • Perhaps 8 of these signet rings exist
      • Signet ring not needed to wield/attune it, just to arm it (does not need to remain with it)
      • Signet Ring requires bonding ritual
      • Signet Ring will not bond to anyone it is not given freely to
  • Unknown: Other special properties related to the defense grid of Denlorn's Tower
