And now his watch is over
As the storm howled outside we attempted to secure the lighthouse against intrusion. We boarded up the windows to hopefully delay the onslaught. We counted sixty or so advancing towards us from the sea. Najila positioned herself up top and began to shake the night with her concussive blasts. The rest of us stood by the front door to receive the onslaught.
Cade dropped a spell to make the ground slippery right in front of the door, and I called down a hallowed light to hinder our attackers. The combination was potent, though they continued to pour through the door. Before too long, they'd effected a breach in the side door as well, resulting in a confusing melee that, whilst focused on Logru, had me get caught up in it in an attempt to shock the foul odor from his nostrils.
Before too long a massive lightning bolt seemed to hit the tower, causing Logru's possessor to re-assert control and race to the lamp. The tide had turned by that point, and before too long we'd mopped up the last stragglers. We then had to turn our attention to keeping the beacon alight despite the trauma to the building.
We setup a lean-to and took turns working on keeping the fire strong against the fury of the storm. Eventually, dawn broke the night, and Danalon seemed to recede from Logru. Something was wrong however, as his look of relief turned to horror immediately before he fully disappeared. I noticed a far off light and went to investigate thinking it may be a clue.
After quickly scoping out the place, I went back to guide the others. It appears that some monk or … something has setup a sanctuary against the malevolence in the area. He was speaking of some tests we'd have to undergo, but seemed friendly enough. Oh well, a full belly and… off we go.
