Session 03: Ghouls, Ogres, and Wargs
[ Session 02 ] [ Back ] [ Session 04 ]
We set out into the old city with a mind to clearing out the big nests in the kobold area, saving the kobold fortress for last.
Our first task was the butcher shop. Our team stealthed up to it, discovered an infestation of ghouls to clear out. Kethys got himself into a bit of a pickle scouting, but with a spell for me was able to hold the enemy forces divided, and enabled us to take down the entire nest with minimal risk.
After short rest we headed over to the stable yard to see what was up in there. Well, turned out to be a bunch of wargs. They lept the fence to intercept us before we even made it into the stable yard. I was cut off for most of the battle by two who weren't really able to do much more than block me due to a protective spell. The boys, meanwhile, engaged the other three and whittled them down one by one. By that time I was able to get around the two blocking me, and our groups merged and cut down the remaining two.
With that we returned to the city for the night to rest up. The next day, our one goal was take down an Ogre encampment.
We had a plan, we really did. Logyru and I walked up casually, seeming to be two orcs, in the hopes of getting the ogres to pop out and demand payment. Meanwhile the other snuck in. I guess I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do because when the two ogres came out I taunted them instead of run like we were apparently supposed to. This complicated things.
In my charade I took a bit of a beating when the battle engaged. Kethys cast his thorny field like he'd planned but we weren't as able to make use of it as we'd hoped. The fight was much tougher than it should've been, but we eventually felled the two beasts. After cleaning out their stash and taking it with us, we headed back but got jumped by a pack of rats.
Despite being drained from the ogre fight, we were able fell them all with little trouble.
After this, we hurried into the city and turned in our ogre trophies for payment, and headed off to our respective rooms for the evening.
