So after our initial attempts to figure out the whole Opal Pavilion thing proved fruitless, it was decided I should try and use my skills to get something out of the more “unsavory” types that hang out at the docks. I suppose that made the most sense as I'm the most unassuming of the group. I did get a hold of one guy, and I figured he caught my drift. He recommended a local brothel to me, to ask for a certain girl. At first I was worried he was just suggesting some girl, but thankfully it was code for a clandestine meeting wherein he pointed us in the right direction.
Rathimund did eventually figure out this Opal Pavilion was prolly fey-ish, and as such, could prove quite dangerous. But that was our only clue to the princess' whereabouts. Since I had told our contact I was just wanting to make trade, we had to pose as a trade caravan, with my men serving as our hired guards to dissuade highwaymen. We eventually came upon a hobgoblin encampment, and meant to ambush them. I had gotten into position, but alas, Az and Rath slipped while getting into there's, alerting them to our presence. Despite that little hiccup, we managed to slaughter the foul creatures.
We made it to the Opal Pavilion without incident. Pretty place, and indeed Fey. We inquired about Tria, but they would only let us see her if we offered a trade. They wanted my memories, since I seemed especially tragic or something to them. I would relay the memories, and they would be plucked from head, never to be remembered again. While it did seem like a good offer, getting rid of bad memories to achieve our goal, those memories make me who I am, I wasn't sure if I'd still be me if I gave them up. Isha ended up trading a particularly fond memory with them, which was sufficient for us to see the Princess.
She was being kept as a slave of sorts, on her father's orders, for a year and a day. I suppose so he could get her out of the way without having to kill or seriously injure her. But her mind was addled, and who knows what these fey were doing to her? How could you do that to your own daughter.
We asked to trade for her, but we had nothing they wanted. Well, I could take her place, but that wasn't going to happen. Even though the Fey are not known for keeping their word, that would be too lawful and structured for them, for some reason they had no desire to anger the king and the people supporting him (the Empress? The envoys for the big push against the houses were from her). Isha had enough of this, and decided to strike…
