With the military exercises in Sturmgaard perhaps creating a sense of urgency in Duchess Veris' mind, diplomatic activity has been fairly hectic. Yesterday, however, marked the end of hostilities of the Thalian civil war, with the announcement of the pending nuptials between the Duchess and her foe, Duke Melfir. If the ceremony happens, it would mark the first time two sitting dukes of the ancestral duchies have wed.
The Duchal Conclave is less than thrilled over the announcement, as it perhaps marks the end of that august body and the beginning of a line of descent. Already, some are referring to the duke and duchess as emperor and empress, though time will tell if they attempt to claim these titles. With Duchess Parnth missing (rumors continue to circulate of people having claimed to have met her), and the remaining 3 ancestral duchal armies under the command of either Veris or Melfir, the conclave is in no position to make demands or requests.
