So we knew the who (Gothic Rose) and the where and when of the next “party”. We just didn't know what we were going to do about it. I mean, take on a true fae in the hedge? We sought out advice from Violet. Lana and Jake argued a bunch, its like, just frak and get it over with already! Anyways, Violet pointed out a couple of people we could check with who might be able to help us figure out what we needed to do to defeat Gothic Rose.
The first person we checked out was Azukari Hina, who seemed to be some kinda blind seer. We met her and her husband, William Walker for dinner at some fondue place, and the next day she let us know what the portents told her or whatever the hell blind seers do to figure stuff out. We had to be very firm and tell her we weren't enjoying ourselves or something along those lines. Seemed easy enough, Fae are all about contracts and stuff, and I can see telling this Gothic Rose chick how her party sucked and taking out leave would break whatever enchantment she was doing.
My suspcions were confirmed when we met with the other person Violet mentioned, Jae Kwon. In his research, he found references to True Fae throwing parties like the one Gothic Rose threw, full of hedonistic pleasures, and how there was always a trick to breaking the magic. Like perhaps saying one was not enjoying the party and not partaking of the sensual pleasures being offered?
Knowing what we needed to do, we managed to get Denise and her roomie out of their room while we waited for Gothic Angel to open the gate and try and entice Denise in. When the time came, there was definite magic at work, but we managed not to succumb. When we got to the clearing, there was a giant banquet, and a giant orgy of naked, writhing people. Heh, Lana stripped down to blend in. Not that I hadn't seen her naked before, but its always nice to see that banging body of hers!
Holden started poisoning the banquet while Jake and I hid in the bushes flinging water balloons filled with crap and puke and other annoyances to disrupt things. Lana did the same as she weaved through the crowds. We eventually got the attention of Gothic Rose. She managed to mesmerize Holden and got him to join in, then Jake fell under her spell. I had leapt atop the table and began knocking over things left and right and mocking her about her sucky party and how this all must be embarassing for her.
It wasn't working though. Though our offensiveness was definitely having an effect on her, it wasn't having a big enough effect. I knew we were on the right track, but I just couldn't figure out the magic words. Luckily, Lana did. She forcefully told Gothic Rose she was not enjoying herself and that she would be taking her leave, which seemed to be enough to break her spell and send her away.
My guess is the way the magic worked is that she could only be sent away if someone left her party. But with the pleasures she was offering and the intoxicating magic enticing people to stay, no one did. Anyways, with Gothic Angel taken care of, we managed to herd everyone safely back out of the hedge.
