As a disciple of Duke of Lamentations, Discordant Cadence of the Burning Waves primarily acts as his General, his Admiral, and any other commander of armies of ghosts, skeletons and other creatures of the dead (or undead).
Among Cadence's new gear is a soulsteel Grand Daiklave called “Laughing Tyrant” and a soulsteel reinforced breastplate, both of which were “won” from the Duke for beating him at pai sho on separate occasions (nevermind how many times the Duke won…).
Cadence is 6'1”, of muscular build (but not massive), with a clean-cut sort of attractiveness. Cadence has eyes the color of dark, bloody garnets, and straight black hair, which is kept short and neat.
Even as a human, Cadence has always tread the boundary of “ambiguously gendered”, and now, thanks to the Duke's generosity (and strange proclivities), Cadence is able to be either gender at will, having attuned a local Water Manse (***) in order to receive a hearth stone of “Gender Transformation”. It is impossible for most, even other Abyssals, to tell for sure which gender Cadence is on any given day. Only the Duke seems to know for sure every time.
Cadence tends to be a little more serious and less chaotic than other Abyssals, especially when compared to the rest of the Duke's crew. No long-winded speeches are given, instead, Cadence asserts dominance by force of will, charisma, and the sword. Cadence does have a bit of a warped sense of humor, and doesn't mind commenting on or encouraging things of that nature from time to time (as long as they don't interfere with other, more important things going on).
Cadence also recognizes that despite the power of an Abyssal, one doesn't know and cannot do everything in the universe yet. But one must respect those folks who can do and do know things beyond one's current abilities, even if they are but mere humans. Even gods need competent servants, after all.
While enjoying such mundane things as reading and spending a good deal of time at the local pai sho parlor, Cadence does also have some… rather disturbing… proclivities that we shall purposefully fail to mention here.
But of course, for a serious-cat like Cadence, these recreational things, no matter how ordinary or disturbing, are only pursued by the Abyssal off the clock. When Cadence is doing the Duke's official business, no time is wasted messing around. Cadence is first and foremost loyal to the Duke, and would never risk a mission or his trust by doing something stupid and risky.
Cadence does, however, to some degree, silently look down upon the others when they do a lot of goofing around on missions instead of taking care of business. But alas, one may suppose that not all Abyssal servants care as much about the higher purpose of their masters as opposed to just random piddly/small-scale terrorizing of unsuspecting humans with their new-found power.
In any case, Cadence would like to someday be a part of something grand, not this stupid nickel-and-diming brand of chaos that some of the others subscribe to. And Cadence believes that the Duke can provide such a cause to work toward.
