The party left the shadowland known as the Fields of Woe aboard the bireme Midnight on the Waves destined for the Linowan town of Valga's Lake. Dropping anchor in the upstream lake, the party disembarked and headed into town.

Zen Becomes Oblivion sought lodging in an upscale establishment, while Discordant Cadence of the Burning Waves investigated the lock's command and control structures. Innocence Chained in Exquisite Torment sought to sow discord by slutting it up in a bar, resulting in a handful of deaths. Dark Clandestine Side of the White Castle managed to burn a poor fisherman's house to the ground.

Cadence followed the flames and managed to wipe out the city guard protecting the fire brigade responding to the house fire.

As the evening wore on, Cadence effortlessly dispatched the lock's guards. Zen, Inexorable Fate, and White Castle found the mayor's house and proceeded to deliver an ultimatum of sorts, spawning the ominous chant “Three Days.”

The following day, Innocence proceeded to bring terror to the upper echelons of society in the guise of a Call-Girl from Hell, dispatching several merchant princes, their families, and any staff unfortunate enough to be caught in her path.

The rest of the party renewed the chant (“Two Days” now) as they began cutting a swath through the town's increased guard patrols.

As the sun set on the second day, the locks were closed to traffic as the citizens huddled in their homes hoping this nightmare would soon pass.
