Biography:
Charismatic and intelligent, Violet is known as the “Queen Bee” of the Summer court. She believes effective leadership requires being well liked by those she leads. This is because the Summer Princess runs her court like a hive – everyone has their role to play, and if they don't, the system falls apart. It is Violet's belief that people are less likely to shed these roles when they like the person in charge, therefore she goes to great lengths to ensure that her popularity is very high, being outwardly friendly to everyone, both in and outside of her Court.
Underneath the gregarious exterior, Violet is known to be a shrewd political strategist, able to push her own agendas while making people think its what they themselves wanted all along. Her honeyed voice can make just about any order, no matter how unpleasant, a simple one to swallow for her busy little worker bees.
However, when forced to make to make a decision or give a command that may prove unpopular, she often relies on her very loyal right hand man, the Summer Court Emissary, Wallace Bolger, to be her herald. He is known as a strict but fair man, with a soft heart for those in trouble or need. But when it comes to Violet's rule, he is as resolute as his rock-hard hide in ensuring her desires are obeyed, no matter what. Of course, with his large, imposing appearance, people are unlikely to disobey anything he says, no matter how distasteful the task.
Violet uses this synergy with Wallace to play good cop to his bad cop, thus achieving her goals while maintaining her popularity. Wallace doesn't mind playing the hard-ass, as he trusts Violet implicitly, and will do anything to ensure the smooth running of the well-oiled machine that is her Court.
Violet is incredibly protective of her rule, feeling that she is the only one qualified to be Queen of the Hive. Her force of personality makes fact this known to anyone in the same room with her, while her courtiers knew it the moment they were inducted into her court. Some may consider this hubris, but the fact is that the Summer Princess is just that good.
Her mental acumen is not limited to the world of political maneuvering, however. She is a superb strategist and tactician, a student of Machiavelli as well as Sun Tzu. She feels she must be that sharp and quick, that cunning and devious, because the true Fae are no less so. And while they are the True Enemy, it is simple reality that the Gentry are not the only threat out there to the changelings; she and her courtiers must be prepared for all circumstances. Because of this, Violet is very demanding of her her minions, encouraging them to be the very best they can be, for their own sakes as well as those of their changeling kin, since they cannot or will not do so themselves.
While Violet's position in the heirarchy is to lead while leaving the fighting to her soldiers, she can be just as capable on the field of combat as any of them. The Queen Bee is especially deadly up close, where she can bring her wicked stingers to bear, injecting those foolish enough to underestimate her fighting ability with a deadly neurotoxin that can fell even the hardiest foe.
