So my employer, Lyndee had hired this new guy, Savn, ostensibly as a cook. Something told me he was no mere cook, but he didn't seem like a threat to her either. Like me, he seemed like a drifter trying to make a living for himself out here, so I saw no compelling reason to mess things up for him. As long as he didn't mess with me or the boss, we were good. He doesn't try to kill me, I won't kill him.
Anyways, Lyndee had us head off to some system to join up with some Hutt. Since her family had made a name for themselves in the Hutt dominated Cartels despite not being Hutts themselves, they wanted her to work for someone else so when she rose up in rank it wouldn't look like it was because of Nepotism. I didn't really care who she, and in turn me, worked for, as long as the pay was good and I got to see some action.
The Hutt, Kreegan, had a hidden asteroid base which took us a couple of days to find. Once we landed, we were greeted by Kreegan's Major Domo, a human named Bow-lurr Zhant. They discussed business, and I was annoyed that I wasn't allowed to carry any weapons while we were outside of our own ship. They claimed the facility was safe, and that even the guards were unarmed, that's how safe it was. Well, since I've infiltrated supposed secure places like this before and killed people who thought they were safe, I was skeptical.
Indeed, at dinner later that night, when Cookie made some strange gesture as he was entering the dining hall, I noticed that the guards were ready to grab invisible weapons strapped at their sides. Hmph, unarmed indeed. I hated not having a gun on me, I could only hope if something went down I could get close enough to someone to quickly snap their neck and take their gun. Until then, I kept my steak knife close, and use it to upgrade to something more useful if our dinner was interrupted by some sort of fracas.
I just ate and sat in silence while Lyndee and Kreegan babbled on in Hutt speak about something. After dinner, Bow-lurr offhandedly mentioned something about a possible spy lurking about. On our way back to the ship, Savn nonchalantly babbled about sensing a Sith lord nearby. Sensed, huh? I don't know if he was crazy or not, but obviously there was more to this cook than meets the eye. When we got to the ship, he saw a robed figure that looked like a Jawa crawl out from under our landing gear and run out into the hangar, fading into the shadows.
I searched the area Savn said the assailant went, hoping for a chance to kill it, but I found nothing. When I got back, Lyndee was laying into Savn for his lies and incompetence. However, there was some truth to what he was saying, as one of her droid detected some sort of tracking device in the landing gear well. So, they went to speak with security about it, and they came back with Bow-lurr and a scanning team, but the team could find nothing.
I was kinda disappointed we didn't find any spies to kill. Given the incident though, I told Bow-lurr I knew his guards weren't unarmed, and tried to convince him to let me carry a piece to better protect my client. He dismissed me, saying we needn't worry, that if anything happened, his guards were well equipped to handle it. So he says. If something goes down, I should prolly stick close to one of these guys and take their weapon off them after they're inevitably killed so I can take care of the threat myself.
With that business done, Lyndee told us about our latest job, something about recovering some ship buried under Coruscant. We were going to meet the buyer (who was some sort of Baron) the next day at dinner. Once tomorrow came, we waited around until the fella finally landed. While everyone was busy watching that spectacle, Savn slipped off and apparently followed the buyer and Bow-lurr for a bit before returning. This pissed Lyndee off and she told Savn she would take no more of his embarrassment. As such, he was to stay with the ship while we had dinner with the Baron.
