Cliff's Notes Version

In the beginning there were the Titans. Their children were the gods. As is the nature of all children, they supplanted their parents. Along came mortals, which gave the gods their power. Things were fine until the gods became jealous of each other.

Jehovah sired Jesus. Through Jesus, Jehovah was able to subvert the faith of the Jews and eventually completed his take over of the Roman Empire through Constantine. With Roman authority absolute, Jehovah's power swelled massively, driving the other pantheons into obscurity. As with all empires, the Romans (and their Byzantine successors) eventually collapsed, but the damage was done… save where Allah held sway.

Allah, seeing the success of Jehovah, resolved to undertake a similar endeavour. Siring Mohammed, and allying with the defeated titans, Allah rapidly destroyed the rest of his pantheon in the process of overrunning Arabia. The charismatic Mohammed swelled the ranks of Allah's followers, enabling them to expand from the farthest reaches of Asia to, at one point, the gates of Vienna.

Previously content to divide up the world, Jehovah and Allah are sparring for absolute domination. This conflict has focused their attentions on each other, allowing the previously defeated gods to sneak back in, and after a gap of many centuries, begin trying to influence the world again. At the same time, the titans that aided Allah are calling for payment after 1400 years. Locked with Jehovah, Allah is unable to repay (fully releasing the titans), angering the titans greatly. Seeking revenge, the titanspawn are spreading out through the world seeking to cause mischief (collect from Allah, and defeat their ancient enemies, the agents of all the other gods, including Jehovah).

Though busy, both Allah and Jehovah recognize the children of the ancient enemies to be dangerous enemies. Each has special teams that seek to hunt own and destroy their resurgent enemies.

Finally, as man aged, he gave birth to large nation states. These large nation states, in the aftermath of World War I, became aware of machinations of Allah, Jehovah, the ancient gods, and the Titans. Seeking to protect their citizens from the turmoil of the conflict, they've developed strategies to combat these powerful foes.

The common man is ignorant of the great struggle. When a titanspawn breaks the facade, it falls to governments to clean things up. As such, governments are exceedingly hostile to all beings of legend.
