Argent was born into the Hithraki clan, one of many Rattatak clans that have served the Sith Empire for many years. As such, he was educated in the killing arts from a very early age. Unlike many of his fellow tribesmen, he favored speed and stealth over brute force. Thus, while many of his clansmen served as shock troops for the Empire, Argent instead became an espionage agent, using his skills in sneakiness and firearms to become an assassin. He had developed a decent reputation in this regard, accomplishing an impressive number of kills during his service with the Empire.

However, his service with the Empire came to an abrupt end when a job went awry. Argent had been tasked with killing a Republic senator's aide, a Chagrian named Sag Archeris, in order to create discord within that senator's office. The actual assassination went without incident. From his sniper perch, Argent disintegrated the Chagrian with a well placed shot from his favored weapon, the Disruptor rifle, as the man was leaving a Coruscant restaurant. Unfortunately for him, Imperial Intelligence is not without its own politics, with many individuals and groups within the Intel structure having their own plans in service of the Empire going on. Plans they neglect to share with their compatriots so they can get the lion's share of the accolades when they come to fruition. As it turned out, Sag Archeris was himself an Imperial spy, getting close to the senator to feed false information and sabotage the political office from within.

Once the error was discovered, Argent's handlers hung all the blame on him and he was forced to go on the run. Argent had the resources to return to the Empire and live out his life under one of his assumed identities. But there was nothing back in Imperial space waiting for him. Indeed, he only joined the Imperial military for the chance to kill to his heart's content. If he could no longer do that for the Empire, then he would go to Cartel space, where plenty of opportunities for someone like him abound.

He did a few hits, served as quick muscle for a couple of jobs before being hired as bodyguard to Lyndee Delundal a pirate princess and young up and comer within the cartels.
