The Eastwall

A massive mountain range that runs north to south across the land. The northern most reaches extend undiminished into the arctic, where the bitter cold prevents their circumnavigation. To the far south, diminish gradually before disappearing into the jungles that still house the plague, and worse.

Towering heights nearly scrape the sky. It is said that standing atop their peaks is impossible for the air is too thin to permit breath. Vicious winds tear at the rock mercilessly along the upper third, bringing frostbite and death to the unprepared.

Great glaciers lurk among the valleys of the Eastwall, denying passage eastward. Rumors of clear passes bring excitement, but since the Sundering, no one is known to have cleared the wall and have returned.

A great barrier to the winds as well as man, the east side of the wall is quite verdant, providing the mighty trees of the Greenwood with water and nutrients year round. Those living on the western shoulders of the range experience temperate summers, and cool, snowy winters.

It is said that during the Satrapy the Prefecture of Wella lay on the other side of the great boundary, but since the Sundering, there has been no contact.
