Are people inherently good or evil? If there is no consequence to their actions, then which side will they choose? At that point, is there even a side at all? Pyreus Grimcore was once a king on a distant uncharted island to the west. He ruled his small kingdom with wisdom and kindness. His rule of the Golden Island ended when his kingdom was invaded. His people were slaughtered and his castle was set ablaze with him in it.

As his home burned and crumbled, he thought back to the choices he made as a king. Everything he did was out in the open. There were no secret agendas or underhanded deals. He openly stated the position that his kingdom had on all issues. Neighboring island kingdoms were trusted to keep their word on agreements and treaties. He disagreed with his advisors on sending spies to watch over the other kingdoms. Honor had blinded him and made him naive.

The other kingdoms had their secret meetings and sent spies to look for weaknesses in his land. They combined their forces to invade and pillaged his land. Revenge was the first thing on his mind when he was brought back. He discovered that a terrible tidal wave had destroyed the lands of his enemies 100 years ago. Those islands no longer existed.

Now he roams the land still bearing the physical and mental scars of his last moments as man. He was terribly scarred and wears a metal mask to hide his features. The lessons learned were not forgotten. He now uses the darkness and shadows to his advantage. Enemies could no longer be trusted. Whether they surrendered or retreated, they should executed or shot in the back. Their homes should be burned to the ground with them in it. An enemy deserves no mercy.
