I am NOT a Jungle People

[ Previous ] [ Back ] [ Next ]

So there we stood before this weird, ancient, Olmec pyramid, crawling with a ton of those annoying Panther Warriors. Looking about, we saw some villagers milling about and four Giants in the back near the cliffs. The operation seemed to be similar to the one in Afghanistan. A scaffolding was set up on the cliffs and there were two caves, maybe one, about halfway up. So, we needed to get into the caves.

We skirted around the edge inside the treeline and came up to where the forst joined the cliffs. Boobie traps were set at regular intervals in the forest around the perimeter, and Jack spied a guard hut at the cliff face itself. Two dudes sat over tea inside the hut talking, while Jack absconded with their warning pots and pans junk.

Once their means of alerting anyone to our presence was disabled, I took my shirt off and provided my body for a distraction while the boys scaled the cliff nearby. A while later, I left the two guards naked and zonked in a pile in the back of the hut, and headed out to scale the cliff using the rope the boys were to have dropped for me. One interesting thing to note, though, was that due to the powers bestowed to me through my father's bloodline, I was able to sort of get a feel for this stupid poem a little better this time. The two guys in the hut spoke, and their words to an ear less trained in language than mine, sounded like poem repeated over and over again in its original tongue, while to each other, they were actually having a normal conversation about tea, and then about the naked chick walking in to engage them in a devil's threesome.

Anyways, while I was busy, Jack and Niko apparently had to kill some watch dude up on the cliff where they had scaled it. And, well, now there was another one right above the cave area that we were approaching. Unfortunately, this particular guard was in complete view of the Panther guys lurking around on pyramid. So we held back and waited, and finally our distraction began. George and Cuauhtemoc lit up some fires in the trees, drawing the attention the dude guarding above the caves, who sounded an alarm, and about half of the Panther dudes and two of the Giants ran off to disappear into the forest to check it out. The others who stayed remained alert, looking in that direction intently.

Jack then shivved the dude who had sounded the alarm, and then propped him up on his own spear so it looked as if he was still there keeping watch, and then we repelled down to the scaffolding. I went down first and told the villagers who continued to work uninterrupted that the Giants had said they needed to return to their huts, as something dangerous was approaching in the forest. The simply took me at my word, and started filing down toward their huts.

Once it was clear, the others came down and we snuck into the caves. I took pictures with my phone; lots of pictures. It was another fake wall with the sheep/horse painting, with two statues of Banded Eye God at each side. We destroyed the fake wall and took a bunch of pictures of what was behind it, another much more ancient painting of some Olmec god or other.

Finding nothing else of interest here, we filed out of the single large cave, and pretended to be villagers as the headed down past the pyramid. But Jack really wanted to see what was up on the pyramid so he and Niko rushed up at the Panther guys, alerting everyone to our presence. Only four Panther dudes remained on the top of the pyramid, as the others were down at the tree line waiting to be called as backup for our distraction.

I fired some shots up into the melee, but Jack and Niko made quick work of those guys, rolled their bodies, and absconded with everything they had found on them.

Into the trees we escaped, me firing some cover shots and we circled in the trees to meet back up with George. Meanwhile, Jack covered our trail. We decided it would be too dangerous to head in the direction from which we'd come, so we instead headed toward the coast. George found after a day or two that there was some emag chatter in spanish which was suspicious. He relayed it as best he could, and it seemed we were being followed by mexican para-military forces. We switched off our satellite phones and George the new messages to me which I translated, saying they had lost us and were setting up to execute a search pattern. Also, there was a helicoptor of some sort in the area assisting.

Jack then took our satellite phones and did something with all but one in order to confuse the search effort. We then resumed our trek.

Once a few days further in this miserable, hot, bug-ridden hell-hole, we switched on the last of the satellite phones and called up BOOBS and told him he needed to provide us transport out of here and back home once we reached the coast. He said he'd have a ship there in 3 days, we got the info, and hung up with him. George said the emag chatter had gotten excited again, like announcers at a futbol game.

So they'd locked back onto us, that's fine. We decided to setup a little ambush to see who was following us, as we'd have to face them sooner or later eventually. Better for us to define the circumstances.

We found a clearing, smaller, near a cliff. We setup a tiger pit hidden by foliage and put the satellite phone in the middle of it. Then we decided upon what positions would be most strategic for us each to lie in wait, and then Jack switched the phone on. We stood together while George listened to the emag chatter, relaying the Spanish while I translated. We waited until they got close, then we heard over the chatter that they decided to wait and attack at night. So we waited.

Once George's chatter indicated they were on the stalk again, we all ran and got into position.

I was to wait at the cliff just inside the treeline. I had my catboys out with their bows, and I had my gun in hand, although I kept my spear at the ready, slung to my back. George waited on the cliff, and Jack and Niko waited at opposite sides inside of the far side of the trees.

A bunch of templars showed up. Four dudes with spears and four dudes with ak-47s. One of the spear dudes appeared to be the leader. Niko and Jack made minced meat of most of the dudes, although my catboys were able to take at least one of them down. The annoying part was that they all had grenades, which…. yeah. Really annoying.

The last guy, one of the dudes with an ak-47, we took alive, although he made it as hard to do as possible. Unconscious and restrained, we waited for him to awaken, for the emag chatter to start up again, and for Jack to decide what he wanted to do about the helicoptor, which hadn't shown up like he had wanted.
